I have a 2001 Monte SS and just had the ISS replaced with the new improved shaft and it did get rid of the "clunking" noise associated with the old shaft. The part number from my invoice (they replaced it under warranty) is 25829293. Hope you can get the word out and have this one problem corrected with this version of Monte Carlo. Good luck.

ALREADY!!??
This is what we've been doing to mine http://www.naioa.com/v2/modules.php?...c&p=142637, don't know if it'll work on the new one. That really sucks, I was hoping the new one would fix it. I've been waiting to see if it would before I had mine changed. Bummer.

Were you driving or the tech? When hubby is driving and I'm in the passenger seat, I can't hear mine either, but it's still there. Plus a lot of it is "feel" too I think.
Talked to an old classmate (went to my20 yr re this weekend) that works as a mechanic for a Chevy dealer (had his own shop before his divorce) anyway he said he had his first '08 vehicle come in with the same oleISS issue. Evidently they still don't have it fixed.

01 SS - I'm on #4. Dealer's favorite quote, "it's not a safety issue."
