Question Oil Pressure Sensor Leak

So this is weird has anyone heard of an oil pressure sensor leaking? Well it appears mine somehow started leaking I did not realize until My oil pressure gage stopped working, which was a fail on my part because my girlfriend said somethin about there being oil in the driveway...
But back to the topic at hand! It seems to be leaking through the sensor, I don't think this is typical for an oil leak, it drips from where the wire harness where the sensor attaches, I was wonder does anyone know how much they cost, and how much it might be to have the dealer replace it.
Oh and my car was in an accident last month someone ran a red light and did some damage to the passenger side , the insurance had the dealer fix it (around 5,000 worth of damage) do you think it could be related to the accident since it is on that side?
Any info will help!

I've seen those things begin leaking around 120,000+ miles. What you described is a normal failure of the sensor. On the 3100/3400, I have confirmed it by disconnecting the wire, using a mirror and staying out of the way of the belt and the fan, have someone start the car and you can see oil ooze out the connector.

I know on the 3100/3400 they are a piece of cake to inspect and get to. The part is $5-$10 usually and requires a special socket. On the 3800, I believe I've seen where it's at (accessible by removing the passenger side tire, if I recall, on a W-Body like our Montes, looks like a breeze to do, once the tire is off, maybe a 5 minute job). Admittedly, I have not changed one yet on a W-Body, but I have done a bunch on the 3100/3400s.

As for relating to your accident, doubtful unless you can see external damage to the sensor.

Thanks! It ended up costing me 25 for the part, and another 10 for the socket, but it was an easy fix, your right it is right behind the passenger wheel, and took about 20 minutes to fix.

Some of those switches have sealant on the threads, and some don't. I'd get the one that has the sealant.

Probably the best oil leak you could have if you had to have one

Glad it helped. Welcome to the forum!

If you turn the wheel all the way to the right and have a lift you can replace the sensor without taking the wheel off.

If only I had that lift, the luxury of leaving the wheel on to change that sensor :p
