Default Replace Elec. Quadrajet with Eldebrock Carb

I have a 84 Monte SS with electronic quadrajet. I want to replace this carb with a non-electronic Eldebrock carb.

Emissions is not a concern.

Can I just tape off carb wires and bolt on the Eldebrock carb?

Thanks

sorry, but no. i did a similar swap on my 84 olds, 307 & that godawfull electronic Q-jet.
i replaced it with a non- electronic q-jet w/ a mechanical choke, and to do the swap you will need to find ( or buy new) a vacume controlled HEI distributor for your motor, and hook on an exsisting vacume line. your car should have an electronic HEI distributor currantly, which will not work with the edelbrock carb.

after i had my olds assembeled, it ran much better, but i should have found a vacume-choke carb, because i had to fab my own mechanical choke, a real pain in the butt. the swap was fairly simple, just make sure to plug any unused vacume lines, and i was very pleased with the results. good luck.

no problem. i know any info on a swap like this is hard to come by, the only info i had to go on was " yha, it should work". the way i did mine was very cobbeled togeather & needed alot of refining, but i did find out it is possible & the car ran much better, although i think that it would never pass emmissions.

like i said above, the swap is fairly straightforward, but plan for some downtime because im sure there will be some bugs that need to be worked out
