Default New thermostat - not much heat - temp gauge low

1999 Monte Carlo Z34, 3800 engine. After the car is warmed up, the temperature gauge only reads in the 120-130 degrees max. I have replaced the thermostat 2 times. The car only blows slightly warm air after the car has been running for quite some time. Any help?

I know sometimes you have to run hte car a couple times to get the thermostat to finally "break in" and run right... it may seem like a stupid questions but do you have enough water in it?

Yes, I checked tonight. The coolant levels are good.

Check and see if the thermo you bought is a different temp too.....I used to buy ones that opened at a lower temp for motors I built.....

Default Engine not coming up to temp.

I have the same issue with my 2003 Monte SS with the 3.8. I replaced the themostat with the proper temp. it is in correctly and the fluid is up to the proper level. Mine will only run at about 165-170. Usually a stuck themostat is the issue but not this time. Any other ideas to try???

There are several things that could cause low operating temperatures. The first is the ambient temperature. Extremely cold weather (below about 20 degrees) will cause your engine to run cold. Too high of an antifreeze concentration will also cause this.
