No crank issue HELP!!
Hey Monte Carlo forums this is my first post on here, but you guys have helped me out a lot by reading past posts. I have a 2002 Monte Carlo SS I'm kinda stuck tho I've had this no crank issue on and off for the past couple months after changing the bcm out. What I would do to start her tho is gently tap the starter with a crowbar and sometimes it would start sometimes would not. When it didn't start I'd jiggle the wires leading to the starter then it would start...until today I'm not getting it to start at all, now the other night before I got home to park her the message board popped this message up service traction system (no abs light so I know it's not a hub related issue) my question is has anyone had these problems before? My opinion is bad starter solenoid, or the wires to it have a short in the system any and all opinions would be greatly appreciated

if you have to tap it to start then chances are the starter went bad to where tapping it isnt enough, replace the starter, as for the other issue, when does the traction lught come on?

Thanks for the reply and I am thinking the starter just crapped out I'm hoping anyways lol. Just the other night it did the chime noise and the message popped up saying service traction system was on until I parked it at home and shut her off. I've noticed like something is holding the car back from full power idk if the trans is going out, but if you know anything that I should look out for or check on it would be appreciated

If it starts when you wiggle the wires check the positive battery terminal at the starter making sure it is clean and tight. Do the same at the battery. If that doesn't resolve the problem replace the starter.

Yeah I checked those wires they were pretty corroded so I cleaned them off put electrical grease on it hooked it back up and nothing. I replaced starter and it fired right up and has been starting and running just fine. The bcm was brand new replaced did the key re-learn process and then drove it to the gm dealer here and had them reprogram it so I figured that wasn't the problem. Thank you all for your help and opinions . Glad to have my MC back and running like a champ! Oh and does anyone here think I should be worried about that one instance of my "service traction system" message? I don't think it would but could a bad starter have caused that message by some odd chance? Trans shifts fine and has a new filter and fluid in it...well 6 months old lol
