Default Dimmer switch or combination switch?

Hello im new to the board. I have a question. My dash lights dont work or rear defrost on my 2002 monte carlo ss. I wanted to know if the dimmer switch needs to be replace or is it the combination switch? Any help is appreciated.

I would start simple before replacing parts. Have you checked your fuses and relays? And for the rear defogger, have you checked for power going to it? These cars have a history of the soldering breaking loose on the tabs to the grid.

The dash lights not working is usually caused by the dimmer switch. The headlight\dimmer switch is in one unit, and easy to replace. If you remove the switch, my bet you will find one of the pins on the switch will have some burning marks on it. Very common failure. I would get an ac delco for a replacement. The part number is 10406799 for the switch.

The rear defrost, could be several things. Check the fuses, and make sure power is getting to the defrost. You could also have a break in the defroster lines in the window, or the wire that connects to the defroster lines has fallen off.
