Default Battery/Charging System

I have an '06 SS. Went out this morning to start the car and the "Service Battery Charging System" message came on the dash display, along with the idiot light for the battery. My car just crossed the 10K mile marker and was running fine at 8:00PM last night. I am calling the dealer to bring it in for service, as it is still under warranty.

I was wondering if anyone else has had a similar situation and what might be causing this to occur on a car with this low mileage. The car it totally stock at this time. If the car had 60K on it I wouldn't be so surprised.

Any insight would be most appreciated, and I will update this once I find out how the dealer fixed (hopefully) the issue.

Yours lasted longer than mine.Look back in the General Tech section of the forum and you will see the previous posts about the 06 battery problems and possible causes.

Thanks for the info. Although I don't think my is due to the microwave, as my car was away from the house most of the weekend.

I am taking the car in at noon. Will keep you posted.

Well, I am back from the dealer. They reprogramed the Body Control Module with SPS code #40D0. This falls under TSB #06-06-03-006. Hopefully this will solve the problem.

Thanks for the help.

Hi `Ed, and thanks for sharing the SPS code #, and
TSB for other MCF Member's.
I was happy to read that it was fixed under warranty.
Good Luck, and we look forward to your future posts.

Where were all these threads when I posted about the battery going dead in my '06?

The dealer said they checked the car for codes and got nothing? Just by chance one day while they had it they claimed the CD changer had not shut off like it's supose to so they changed it.

I'm certain the battery has went dead a time or two since this.

But I let my car set a lot. No need for me to worry about the microwave or the lead suit Superman keeps around cause my barn where the car stays is 30 ft from the house.

So either the dealer lied to me about this NOT being a problem with '06/07 Montes or they just have no clue?

Hi `R.J.,
(Oh, hope you are feeling better today after your accident).
I would contact your Chevy Dealer Service Dept., or
stop by and tell them about the Tech Service Bulletin
TSB #06-06-03-006.
Sure hope you stay Charged Up.
Hire a kid to move stuff for you or your parents.
Good Luck

Thanks Space.

So far, my hand hasn't fallen off. ( a good sign I guess?)

Tell them you don't understand your rights and they can't arrest you. [sm=joke.gif]
