Default Weird Headlight Problem

Recently my left low beam went out. So i start to replace it and find out that the lightbulb connecter is burnt and so its the connecter that runs to it. I figured that i could just splice the wires and put a new connecter and lightbulb. Once i finished that, the low beam and the high beam are on at the same time (just the left side). Even though they are both lit, they are very dim.

I have no clue as to why this is happening and was hoping to find some advice.

Isaac

Electrical problems are some of the hardest things to diagnose online... Would you be able to post a picture of the new connection along with the wires that lead to it? Welcome to the forum!

Hi Isaac, is this on your 02 or 86 Monte ?
I think just replacing the connector is not the problem. You will have to check out why the first one burned `out.
Possible that your switch is bad, or a short in the wires.
Do you have a electrical tester..?, to check for shorts & trace the wires ?
Have you done any electrical mod's where other wires have been added ?

Good Luck 4-Sure.

theres no electrical mods... and i figured that the switch wasnt bad since the right side low and high beams work properly...

GMs have had a problem with burning electrical connectors for years. First I have heard about the problem in a monte. Make sure the wires arent connected backwards just to be sure before you dig any further into the harness.
