Factory radio swap / compatibility

Factory radio swap / compatibility
What's up? Quick question...I have a 02 SS w/ the stock radio that has cassette/cd and RDS. I opt'd to keep it, and ran a cleansweep, amps, subs, etc. I've swapped all the bulbs to LED's and was going to hack the tape head to run AUX...but, I came across a good deal on a 07 stock radio that has AUX and CD.
I'm not sure if it'd work, b/c of the system integration w/ the security system, settings, etc. Anyone know if it'd work if VIN programmed to the car, or is it a whole different interface?
Thanks!

i dont think the 06/07's came with a security system.
and further more ive read MANY threads on here about removing your gen's stock headunit and its nothing but truble.
they make rewire kits so you can mount the stock one in the trunk, that seems to correct ALL the problems accociated with removing it.

Im not gonna say it wont work but im 99percent sure it wont work. Lots of things are ran through your stereo not just music and the newer gen of montes are different from the older. the audio system is different, there are more features and its "designed for that cars stock audio system". the audio will most likely sound like crap but it would work, but everything else's chance of working is slim to none. not only would it prob not work i dont think there the same size so your gonna have to do custom mounting. allso trying to find which color wire does what without any harnesses is gonna be a total pain. it would be easier to do an aftermarket deck by far. and its not as troublesome as everyone thinks. within the next couple of days im going to making a how to install an aftermarket deck tutorial for the 2000-2005 montes.

Thanks for the input guys. Yeah, I think I'll just stick w/ the stock deck then. I already have the amps and cleansweep, etc. so it sounds just as good, if not better, than an aftermarket deck. Only crap part is the tape player. Now I gotta figure out how to hack it to make the "tape" an "aux". It's easy on even older decks, but w/ this one, could be a pain to figure out.
