Porting Projects

Porting Projects
Well once payday comes I'm gonna head down to the local pick a parts and get a LIM, possibly some heads too. Then spend some money on some nice dremel bits, so far I've got these picked out.

Anyone know of some others I might wanna grab? I'd like to have a nice collection eventually.
Also does anyone have any pointers for when I start this project?

Widgetsupply.com is a GREAT place for Dremel stuff ( a lot of good bits CHEAP). I have a LOT of bits for my Dremal and worked out great when I port matched my LIM. Here's a link with info I did for mine (and some pics):
'04 Monte Carlo SS - Port Matched LIM
DO NOT gasket match the LIM unless you do the same with the heads!! Otherwise you end up with a nasty step in the air flow, not good.
I also modded an L67 Throttle Body to bolt up to my engine. All works very nicely!!

Well I ordered lots of stuff from widget supply, GLORIOUS PRICES, at least for the comparables. Got a hand full of tungsten carbide cutters and a 36 pack of steel brushes, some zip ties, glasses, and a $15 caliper accurate to .01mm. It should be getting here tomorrow, when my next check hits I'm going to the pick a part, gives me some time to make a new workplace in my garage.
Anyone know of any good write ups? I already looked at your Maniac, I'll definitely refer back to them. I've been googlin quite a bit lately and the only decent write up I can find is for some older mustang heads, which is helpful, but I'd like to see some examples of tried and true methods on these engines.

I used a Dremel with my porting projects. As long as you have some good grinding bits for aluminum, it will do the job. Also one of the flexible extensions also helps.
