Default Taking out factory radio

Hey Guys, I just a have a couple simple questions.

Has anyone replaced the factory radio and (not) relocated it to the trunk? If so what issues or regrets do you have from doing it?

How bad does your 2002 Monte rattle if you put subs in the trunk?

Has anyone had any luck getting the factory wheel controls to work with an aftermarket head unit?

I love my car but I love my big stereo and the factory head unit sucks so bad it hurts. Why cant they put decent high powered units in these cars? I can buy a base model walmart special that has more power and cleaner sound for 80 bux?

Default RE: Taking out factory radio

I have put in an aftermarket HU and not put the factory radio back in the car and it works fine. maby because I used the expensive wiring harness to. but I had gotten another keyless entry and i had to take out the aftermarket HU and put the factory one in to program it, but it works fine without it.

I have an 12" Alpine type x and the trunk lid does rattle but not a whole lot cause the trunk is kinda heavy and the spoiler helps too, the further away the sub is from the trunk lid the less rattle. the only other parts that rattle on the outside are the side fenders more so in the rear cause they are just attached be clips, but the rear view mirror is a pain in the *** it just goes straight down when i turn up the music, any suggestions to keep it in place.

I have not installed the adapter for the steering wheel controls yet but will eventually

I just hardwired my aftermarket headunit in. All I lost was the door chimes, but I never had onstar, steering wheels controls, tire/oil monitor before. I can flex the deck lid a good 1/4" inch with my pioneer ts-307D4 in a 1.7 cube @ 36Hz box.

I know I'm resurrecting an old post, LOL, but Jaws have you had any issues with the aftermarket? Was the "expensive" wiring harness the gmos-04? Relocating my factory radio is out of the question as it's toast.
