Rear brakes replacement
Hello everyone,
I did an inspection of my brakes a couple of weeks ago and noticed that soon I would be needing to replace all of my brake pads. Last week the fronts were replaced without a problem. Now my question is about doing the rear discs.
I have done about a dozen brake pad replacements on conventional front wheel disc systems before so I really wasn't worried any unexpectedproblems withthem.
I have never done rear disc work at all. Before I get started and possibly do more harm than good, are there any special tools or shortcuts helpful before i get startedtearing everything apart only to find out I have to put everything back together, go get more partsand start all over again?

RE: Rear brakes replacement
lax_man, check out the "Messing with a Monty" link on my signature below. It has step-by-step instructions on brakes. The rear brakes are pretty easy since Chevy runs the emergency brake inside the hub of the disc brake rotor (instead of some companies who incorporate it into the brake caliper). If you can do the fronts, you can do the rears.

Thanks Yellow.
I remember when rear discs were firststarting to be installed on mass produced american cars and a friend of mine had a bit of difficulty doing them. I just wanted to make sure.
Thanks!

You can check out my installation guide in the "Do It Yourself" area. Has pics of the rear brakes.
