Potentially buying a Monte Carlo, wanted some thoughts.
I am looking to buy the following monte carlo, but I am having some reservations about how much work its going to take to turn this show car into something with some real performance. I would love to hear everyones thoughts about the overall value of the car or if I am nuts for even considering it.
"I have a Classic Custom Built Hotrod/Muscle Car for sale. It is a 1972 Chevrolet 1st Generation Monte Carlo.
It has:
350 engine - 4 bolt main (cam, roller rockers, gear timing, Edlebrock intake, Edlebrock 4 barrel carb, complete chrome kit.)
TH350 Auto Tranny
Custom Interior
Too many things to list here, comes with all receipts.
It took 3rd place in the Oakland, OR car show last year.
Its a show car, but runs real good!"
There is the monte carlo in question.
Asking price is $13,500. Blue. Not exactly sure how to put the links of images up, but if you search Show Car in Eugene craigslist you can't miss it.
Thanks,
Eric

well for a good starting point the car has a 350 4 bolt main, which is a good engine to start with.
The motor has an Edelbrock intake and carb, which again are very good parts that a lot of performance cars have installed, although most people go for the holley carbs, but I personally never liked them as they always had float problems and would flood out on any car I owned with one.
The engine has a chrome dress up kit, which most hot rodders have under the hood of their cars, as you need to show as much as go
The engine already has a cam, roller rockers and timing gears that are performance.
The engine is connected to the standard turbo 350 tranny which most street racers run.
The car is already half way there for performance, the question is how far do you want to go. You can bore the motor 30 thousand and do the heads up and you would have a fairly serious performance car on your hands. The positive is that it is a show car, which would lead one to believe that it has been maintained and not had the **** run out of it for at least the last portion of it's life and most show cars you see are very well loved and taken care of.

The car looks ok, but a bit too flashy IMO.
