New Tire Time. I Don't Want To Mess Up.

New Tire Time. I Don't Want To Mess Up.
I need new rubber all-around. The tires on it are the Originals. GoodYear GA's 225/60R/16's. They're not bald. Close though.
I was thinking about adding a little width. Possibly going to a 235 or a 245. But, I'll get the 225's if it's the best thing to do.
My wheels are stock 16-Inch Aluminum Plain Vanilla and I don't want to sacrifice any handling for cosmetics. But, if a little wider tire will help to remove the sissy-look off this Monte ... I'm all for it.
I want to buy NEW Tires. I'd like to save some money and find a good deal on a quality set of tires. I drive fast. So, I don't want a tire on there that could get me in trouble.
How wide is cool?
Where do I look for the best deal on some tires that will save me some dough?

RE: New Tire Time. I Don't Want To Mess Up.
I got 235's on my car. But I don't think the extra 10 millimeters is going make much of a visual difference. Stating the obvious here, but the wider you go the worse your fuel economy is. I don't think your car looks "sissy". But if you want to give it a more agressive look to it, I would invest in some different wheels. Maybe even go with a good used set of the optional SS rims. The ones that look like the ones on the Intimidator.
Or if you REALLY wan't to change the look, 26'S BABY!
Just kidding.

I highly recommend Goodyear Triple Treds for all season tires,
Goodyears Triple Treds at Tire Rack
or these Michelin Energys, these having white lines, or none for a few$ less:
Michelin Energys at Tire Rack
I had a set of these on my 01 SS LE, and they were GREAT tires. Michelin also makes this tire in a 235-65-16 size, 27.9" tall vs 26.6" for the 225-60-16, Same width. That is MY recommendation for a GREAT tire.

Try a tire dealer that sells farm equipment tires, or ask around for a smaller dealer that people go to. You can usually get a better deal there, and better service.
