High mileage Monte
My 2004 Monte is about 139,000 and still going strong. There is tapping from the engine which my mechanic says might be cam lifters coming loose.He recommended 1 quart Lucas oil stabilizer to help thicken the oil and reduce engine knocking... I also had a problem wit the fuel pressure regulator,, And of course the clocks don't work....havnt for several years. But I love the car. I thought about getting something newer but couldnt....

I have a 2004 Monte LS and it just turned 185,000 a couple days ago. Is it old or just middle aged?
I gave it a transplant about 2-1/2 weeks ago... 2007 Leather interior ---> https://montecarloforum.com/forum/si...6th-gen-43360/
At what mileage do LIM gaskets go? How can I tell if I have metal gaskets?
Update to post:
I have been running only Valvoline since I bout the Monte and have been running Valvoline MaxLife since 117,013 miles. I am enrolled the Valvoline Engine Guarantee.

01 Monte Carlo with 444000 miles
Looking to see if any one out there has a Monte Carlo with some ridiculous high miles. Don't get me wrong, I'm loving it. Haven't had to see a dealership in over 15 years is the best!!!! I have a 01 Monte Carlo I bought brand new and have to admit it's been the best investment I've ever made. This damn car is solid, and yes with the exception of a brand new trans put in around 175,000 miles the only other thing this car has had were hub bearings. These damn things seem to go out every 100,000 and had 4 sets installed already. 3.4 engine still strong with some minor wear and tear like gaskets replaced. I use Gunk motor flush and some Duralube every other oil change.
Went with Napa rotors and their semi metallic pads and sure beats the ceramic ones that are noisy and way too much break dust on the rims.
