Default Gone But Not Forgotten Monte Carlos

Did you have a Monte that gave it's life for a higher purpose, like protecting you and your family? Or how about a Monte that you loved, but had to part with?

Tell us about it/them. Post pics if you have some. Pics are always welcome. Some of us consider them a must!

Here's your chance to tell your story on how your Monte saved your life. Or just reminesceabout Montes past.

Once upon a time, a `kid from some `space got himself
a earth vessel called a Monte Carlo LT3.
The kid soonlearned as he travelled his highways, that he could no longer
afford to keep his awesome Space`ride. [X(] It can be expensive
to live on Planet Earth. [X(]The LT3 was sold to survive [X(]To be
replaced by a earlier, lower priced edition.

I'm glad I haven't had to part with my 76 yet. I don't think I could ever bring myself to part with her. But it wasn't a Monte Carlo that gave its life to save mine... it was an 86 Grand Prix. Bought it off of Craigslist for $440. It saw better days, but wasn't a heap. The headliner sagged in the back, the front seat was torn, the carpet was a mess, the A/C and stereo didn't work, it had no muffler and had no reverse. It was a good car, though. The 3.8-liter engine ran well and it shifted through all the forward gears without stalling or hesitating. It was a birthday present to myself. She was white with grey cloth interior, power windows that workedand 14-inch Pontiac Rally II wheels.

But alas, after only owning her for just over a month, she was totalled as I was heading to Chico, CA to meet my new girlfriend for the very first time. After fishtailing across both lanes of I-5S I hit a tree stump on the side of the road and flipped over onto the roof only to slide 30 feet down into a ditch. I walked away with a cut on my thumb, a headache and sore arm. On December 30, it will have officially been one year since the wreck.

She saved my life and for that I am greatful, but I can't help butfeel horrible about how she ended up. I was forced to leave my beloved Grand Prix in a California tow yard withafate to the crusher.

Dustin,

While onmy way to work this morning, I didn't feel like being 20 minutes early so I took a little detour. I passed a Pontiac similar to the one you lost in someone's front yard for sale. I'd stop and ask about it but my g/f needs a car to drive. This car looked too good (at 3am) to use as a work car.

If there was a Monte in my life I regret geting away it would have to be an '87/88 SS. The one I've never owned.
