Default Chalk up another dead transmission on a 06 SS UPDATE!

8800 Kilometeres!!! The car is brand new almost and I am a very light driver too!

I was out crusing tonight and my "Service Traction Control" light came on and I noticed MAJOR slippage in "D" and "3" the car would hardly move! Luckly I was close to home and limped in on Second gear which seems to be OK.

Thank god for warranty! In she goes on Monday for a new tranny I would assume!

I will keep all posted!

Damn, Jason, that really sucks. Please keep us updated on what you find out. As a fellow 2006 owner, this has me very worried.

I have an 06 SS w 26,000 miles. I'm concerned now. I started hearing bad stuff about our trannys after I purchased my car. I did get the 100k warranty.

My 2000 GTP had to get a tranny rebuild at 75,000 miles and again at 138,000 miles. I was told that the2006 W body had a new & improved tranny for the V8 model. is this true or am I driving the same piece of crap that was in my 2000 GTP?

Damn, hate to hear about that, but atleast you do still have your warranty.

I'm glad I haven't heard of any issues with the 3.9L yet, I passed 50k the other week and I'm starting to think that if anything does come up now that I'll be one of the first to know...

Wow, this sucks.

And we all ('06/07 owners) have the same transmission. Except the SS got a beefier transmission versus the 3.9 & 3.5 Montes.

Well I took the car in Monday morning and it was there all day. The Transmission Control Module just died. There was no communication between the TCM and the rest of the car. I am surprised the car still drove at all! The funny thing was, the digital indicator (the square box) that tells you what gear you are in dissappeard from the DIC. Was funny to see!

They replaced the TCM and reprogrammed it with NEW software and let me tell you......The car shifts firmer and the 1 to 2 "shake" is gone! The car feels more powerful overall and it is not my imagination!

At least its all fixed!

Jason
