Almost traded the Monte...
Ive had my '03SS for about 4 months now, and have less than 1000 miles (my miles) on it. I was contemplating trading that driveway ornament in......
When I go to work I have to take my old (95 Suburban 285,000 miles) truck, going camping or haulin' the kids 4-wheelers- truck, getting parts for other projects... yup, need the truck, I have no need for a nice car like this!????
Well, I decided to take her out on one last run before trading her off. The Lottery place is about 20 miles away, so I decided to get gone, open her up, and finally see what she can do. 86 miles later, open road, curves and rough spots, no traffic, and watching the speedo hit 90...95....100....105.......110.....115....... and its like I'm going 40, recline in the leather and adjust the seat, find some "System of a Down" on XM, crack the moon roof, relax and drive. Enjoying the ride for once, I can look around at the view.... rolling hills, farms, HEY! theres a windmill I missed last time I drove this road, yup.....
Hurding the 'ole Suburban down the road is one thing.... its a truck. The Monte is a moving ocular painting, always changing and exceptionaly motivating.
There is no place in the "used car lot" for this one.

RE: Almost traded the Monte...
Awesome post, Thomas. I think we all know the feeling you're talking about, some of us just have it worse than others. I'm currently putting a bunch of money into my 99 MC, because that is one sweet riding car, even if it is almost 10 years old.

I don`t think I`ll get rid of mine. Ride is awsome and like some of the other posts in here, you`re going faster than it feels like. Just put a new ignition system in my `98LS yesterday and man what a difference!
