Oh I know, no problem. I just wanted to say "hey this is my work" since it is. Thanks, and nice to see you chose it as one of yours to post.

Neither did any late model. When the 5th gen came out, it was a bubble. Past montes were bigger and more squared.
There were more exceptions than the 5th gen. The 3rd gen had long rectangular tai lights.
The vertical tail lights were in the past an era thing, not something make specific. I can think of a number of buicks, chevys, and pontiacs that use vertical tails.
They can't do a tall tail light design on a rounded car these days. The main reason it looked fitting on 6th and 7th gens at all is because the backs of the car were flat.

The Monte did get away from a vertical tail light a few times, yes, and I did forget about 78-80, but it was a vertical orientation 22 out of the 30 years. I'd say that's significant enough. I can't think of another model of car, other than Cadillac, that used a vertical tail light for that much of its lifetime (basically 75%). I was considering both early and late models for the tail lights and, actually, I think of Cadillac in general before Buick even comes to mind.
I agree that it's a bit hard to work a vertical tail light on a rounded body, but who's to say the back of the car has to be rounded now? The flat(er) back worked and looked great on the 6th and 7th Gens.
