Default 1970 Monte questions

I need a fender for my 70 Monte, are all fenders from 70-72 fit? or only the 70's? Ive seen claims of both.

Did all Monte Carlos come with the "SS" style round gauges or did they ever come with the "sweep" style speedo?

Can I use a driveshaft from a Chevelle or other cars of the same platform?

I need front Calipers for my brakes, what cars are interchangeable in order to find cores/replacements?

Any and All help will be appreciated...

Is there nobody on here that knows anything about the first gen Monte's? I also would need a transmission cross-member...

also looking to do some research of how many Monte's with certain options were built?
the reason for the fender question is that repro fenders are selling as 70-72, where I've seen some originals labelled as 70-71 or more often 71-72... Whats the rule?

Also looking for a drivers fender if anybody has one? do not care if it needs some tlc. however it doesn't look like they rust out too often.

As far as I'm aware, the fenders are the same between 1970-72. The difference is the headlight bezel which is a separate piece. The instrument cluster is made up of round gauges just like the Chevelle, and actually the 1st gen Monte Carlo dashboard is basically identical to the 2nd gen Chevelle. A lot of publications (i.e. Year One) encompass the 1964-72 Chevelle/El Camino and 1970-72 Monte Carlo into one; there's quite a bit that the Chevelle and Monte Carlo of that time share.

I owned a 1970 when they first came out but didn't really care for it and then I sold it and went back to a Chevelle, and Camaro again.
The Monte Carlo Dash from 70-72 was a Burled walnut appearance and it only came with the gauge style appearance like the SS Chevelle 70-72, If you see a Chevelle with a Straight sweep Dash and no Gauges it is not a "true SS".
The fenders on the Monte 72 had a vertical parking light next to the headlight. This could be why there is a difference. in ordering them I can't recall if the 71 had one like that or not?
I couldn't tell you on the drive shaft or the calipers but I would believe that all the GM Chevelle, Pontiac, Olds should work. You may have to find a salvage yard that deals in classics. to get the used parts. sorry I don't know much more than that.

The 72's vertical parking light you are talking about is incorporated into the grille and the headlight bezel is notched around it; the bezel is a separate part from the fender. My Dad used to own a 72 and had the front end apart to rebuild the engine and had taken the bezels, radiator support, etc. off the front to refinish.
