Definitely a plus if you can do this yourself. It cost me almost $500 when I had mine done at the dealership.

Well I know my cylinders are shot inside because once day my car wouldn't start. Called a tow truck to tow it home but he insisted for him to put the key in the ignition and hit it with an hammer. That way all the pins are jostled around and my key is free to go in with no problems. Which ended up causing me probs of what I am going through now. The reason he did it was to get me back driving instead of paying to get it towed and towed again to a shop to fix the ignition which had locked up on me...smh

Recently replaced mine using this procedure, it worked perfect...thanks
