Need help removing oil pump drive!
Motor is all apart, heads and all. Fixing a LIM and head gasket problem. While I'm here, I want to change the O-ring on the oil pump drive. I took out the 15mm bolt on the retainer, but the drive won't pull straight up like the Chiltons manual says it should. It spins in circles very freely, but there is ZERO up and down play. I got a pair of vice grips clamped on it real hard, and even with those pulling straight up I get nothing.
Am I missing something? Is there atrick or special tool needed for this???
It's a 3100 '98 Monte Carlo.
Thanks!

Never mind, I got it. If anybody else ever runs into this problem, just give it a few light taps with a metal hammer and it will loosen up a bit. Keep pulling upwards with some vice grips, rotate it, more taps with the hammer, rotate, pull up, and keep repeating until it "breaks loose" and slides straight up.
