If the problem persists...Then it has a whole other issue.
I dont think you can do that cause if you unplug it the car will cut off.

It should stay running. It just bypasses the signal sent to the PCM to adjust for lean/rich conditions. If you disconnect it and don't notice any change the MAF may be bad.

I'm having the same problem as we speak. I have a 2000 monte with a 3.8. The problem started about a week ago. At 1st It would idle really rough but then go back to normal. But recently the car has been cutting off while Im driving.it would let me go about 5 miles then idle really rough then cut completely off esp.at a stop sign or red light. At 1st I thought my car was just overheating and just cutting itself off to stop damage to the motor.but it wasn't until today I was outside trying to figure out what the problem was...my girlfriend comes out the hse and tells me to unplug the MAF and see if the problem stops. .I guess she did her own research or she a mechanic by night 😂but surely enough the problem disappeared. So I'm going to replace the MAF tomorrow.
