Default 5th or 6th gen engine in 4th gen?

Hey guys im new here and i am looking to buy a 87 monte ss shell, with everything but the engine and trans. i was wondering would it be possible to put in a 5th or 6th gen engine in it for more of a "new" technology powered engine? has anyone heard of anyone doing this and if it is at all possible. I have tried to find answers on other sights but no one has ever answered me, and i got a little mad so i would greatly appreciate some thought/oppinios/answers. thanks.

The engine itself should go right in, yes. Its the fuel injection wiring that will be difficult. It could be done and Im sure someone has done it. I have seen people put the 3800 L67 engines in street rods so it should work in an older monte. Im wondering if Painless might make a wiring kit for these engines since they are so comon. Ill look up on it.

it would be alot of work to do that if you want "new technology powered engine" you should look in to a LS series motor swaps as they make kits for most of the cars plus it a rwd motor

The LS kit is a good idea, but if you're really wanting a 3800 you could find an old camaro with the V6 and grab the motor/trans/wiring everything and go from there...

I concur. Go for a RWD F-Body 3800 Drivetrain setup, and call it a day. Fairly straight forward swap.
