Also the PCM wouldn't match the BCM VIN and the car wouldn't start. And if the L67 was from a 2003+ Monte the PCM would look for a sensor that doesn't exist in the trans of his 2002.

A tune is never avoidable and a very very integral part of any boost build.

The compression difference between an l36 and l67 has nothing to do with the heads, the compression difference exists in the pistons. So even doing a full top swap on an l36, you're still going to have the higher compression and will have to run a larger pulley (less boost) for a given set of mods to compensate.

The main benefit to swapping the heads in a true top swap is that the l67 heads have injector holes drilled out so you can use dirt cheap, stock l67 fuel rails vs having to buy a bunch of modded parts for fueling.
