Trunks like yours, yeah just drill holes and mount...
which is exactly what I was referring to. so much for "going into detail" for me

Anyone know what spoiler this is?

Yes it is the same one that comes from the factory labled " PACE CAR SPOILER"..
That one is the same as the one on my wifes 2001 LS from the factory..
It might look different in that picture from that angle but it's not...
They are also on ebay...

Well, given the slim pickin's, looks like for me, the Pace Car spoiler will be my spoiler of choice.

in regards to the guy talking about . . . racing downforce.

well jus to make sumthin clear u say the spoiler creates a downforce, wrong, a wing creates downforce, the spoiler just reduced the amount of lift generated by the differences in pressure of the moving air from the top of the car from the bottom, which means you have more traction. wings which are jus like on an airplane but are inverted, creat downforce opposing the lift generated, pretty much forcing the car downward even during those highspeed turns, which in turn provides more traction and will let you live. ya i had a lil life or death situation cuz i thought i was a badass and i posted it in the street racing . . thing. . but a lil bit more downforce could have helped me there. most of you probably knew this information already but i know lots of streat racing enthusiast who still think the car with the most horsepower will always win, and of course cant tell the difference between a wing and a spoiler, but mostly for the people who dont know, now you know.

Sorry guy, spoilers do create downforce. How is it that you think a spoiler can reduce the lift if it doesn't create downforce, magic?

no they dont, it disrupts the airflow, hence the name spoiler. u notice wings have the same physical characteristics of a wing of an airplane, one side flat one side a bit more curved, thats so the air will flow faster on the curved side applying less pressure than the straight side. its called bernoulli's principle. a spoiler does not have that property, it just disrupts the amont of lift generated by the car itself. u see spoilers coming out of a jets wings as it lands. to reduce the lift. heres a visual

now a spoiler

you see the spoiler on the right side decreases the lift in result the plan will rotate.

For every action, there is an equal or opposite reaction

Downforce is the opposite of lift. So your comment that spoilers don't create downforce, they reduce lift, is only partially true. Yes, they reduce lift, by creating downforce. Your air pressue visual validates that...it shows that the faster the air moves over the surface, the less pressure there is, thus, more lift when the pressure below is greater than that of above. Now apply that to the application of a spoiler on the rear of a car going 200mph. w/o a spoiler, the air will move faster over the surface, resulting in lift that will make the car unstable at such high speeds. But slap on a spoiler, it interrupts the air flow, creating more pressure on the surface(aka downforce) and in effect reduces the lift, causing improved handling capabilities of said vehicle.

Definition of downforce

As quoted from www.insideracingnews.com........."I wonder if 17% less downforce is alarming to anyone else. That's what Todd Parrott said is missing from Elliott's car because of the smaller spoiler. After his two Talladega flights, I'm thinking 17% less downforce isn't something good."

As quoted from Bill Elliot on www.brickyard400.com......."If we took downforce out of these cars, everything would have to change along with that. You just can't go cut spoiler off or raise the air dams in the front and expect everything to be OK."

Mark Martin, as quoted out of the Virginian Pilot......."We are dealing with a situation of a pretty huge downforce difference between the Chevrolet Monte Carlo and the Ford, because of the spoiler sizes.'

Maybe you should get in contact with NASCAR cause all of those guys are mistakingly thinking that spoilers create downforce. What a bunch of tools

go ahead and take science of flight and then come back and talk to me, u dont need to be a genius to be on tv, that and i think most people dont care what they call it so u here sumthin different everytime. how does that lil **** thats on the top left of the page make downforce, i can under stand maybe he ment 17 more lift, but i guess its just easier to call it 17 less downforce. anyways this is the last post im postin about this cuz i know what im talking about and continuing will be a waste of time, im here to meet more people with monte carlos not argue about aero dynamics.

No need to take a class to understand the issue here, it's simple. That lil **** that's on the top left of this page doesn't create downforce because that car will never reach the speed necessary for downforce or lift to become an issue. But the spoilers (not wings) on NASCARS create downforce by disrupting the air flow over the top of the vehicle, resulting in increased air pressure aka downforce. Here's a visual

I am not disputing what you're saying for arguments sake, rather for the sake of providing accurate info.

This should be clear to you when you consider that when a plane is flying and the right side spoiler is raised, the increased pressure on that wing forces it down and causes the plane to turn to the right.

how does it releive pressure when the air that is supposedly arched isnt even over the car, that image is just redundant.
